Probably even more shocking is that the woman Travis attacked SURVIVED. Travis was a 13-year old male common chimpanzee that remains notorious for what is perhaps the most graphic and life-changing non-fatal attack on a human by an animal. And that became all too clear the day a call came through to the Connecticut 911: “HELP PLEASE! HE. But no matter how domesticated he became, Travis was still, at the end of the day, a wild animal. Seriously - by the time he was ten, he had favourite TV shows, helped mow the lawn, loved drinking wine, and could even drive a car. They bought him as a pet when he was just three days old, and raised him like a human. Travis the Chimp was treated like a son by his owners Sandy and Jerry. not much else we can title this one, really. The attack lasted 12 minutes, which must have felt like an eternity.Yeah. Nash’s injuries were so serious that an officer presumably couldn’t tell her gender. “Hey listen,” one officer said over the radio, “We’ve got to get this out of here. He’s got no face.” “It just opened up one of the patrol cars and we had to let a couple go,” an officer said into a radio.Īt that point, Travis went running back through the house. Some officers gave chase while others tended to the victim. A woman who suffered horrific injuries after being mauled by a crazed chimpanzee has spoken for the first time about her ordeal. Officers remained in their vehicles at first. Herold did the same.īut at some point, Travis the chimp tried to get into a squad car. Charla Nash as she was before the chimp attack. Travis had used his huge primate teeth to tear off Charla’s hands, attacking her her lips, eyelids, eyes, and nose. Then came this over the crackle of the radio: “Person down, chimp outside.” When police arrived, she continued shouting to them to “shoot him!”. “Shoot him,” Herold kept shouting into the phone. “Tell them to shoot him. Tell them to shoot him. Tell them to shoot him.” Nash was not dead, but was severely disfigured. Wednesday, she remained in critical condition at a local hospital. Travis the Chimp nearly killed his owners friend by tearing off her face and both hands, but his rampage was only cut short when he got shot.
